A new chapter in early childhood education was opened on 22nd August 2025 with the launch of the first hybrid preschool in the plantation sector of Sri Lanka.
The “Tea Kids” preschool, located at the Magastota Division of Pedro Estate, Nuwara Eliya, was developed through a joint collaboration between the Plantation Human Development Trust (PHDT), Kelani Valley Plantations PLC, and the Hemas Outreach Foundation. This innovative model blends traditional preschool learning with modern digital methods, giving children of the estate community access to a richer and more engaging educational experience.
At the ceremonial opening, the preschool was officially handed over to the young learners of the estate, marking an important step towards strengthening their wings to achieve their dreams.
The event was made more meaningful with the participation of children and parents of Pedro Estate, who warmly embraced this new chapter in their community.
