The CEOs’ Forum was successfully held on 16th February 2026 at the Head Office of the Plantation Human Development Trust (PHDT), bringing together Chief Executive Officers of Regional Plantation Companies and key stakeholders to review strategic priorities and development initiatives for the year 2026.
The Director General of PHDT delivered a comprehensive presentation on the IHP 4700 – 2026 Project, outlining the strategic framework and implementation roadmap. The presentation covered the Operational Manual, fund allocation mechanisms, criteria and procedures for the selection of land and beneficiaries, and the clearly defined roles and responsibilities of all stakeholders involved. Emphasis was placed on transparency, accountability, and coordinated execution to ensure the successful delivery of housing and infrastructure benefits to plantation communities.
A special technical presentation was conducted by Dr. Asiri Karunawardena, Director General of the National Building Research Institute (NBRI), on “Landslide Risk Management in Sri Lanka.” The session highlighted national risk profiles, preventive and mitigation strategies, and critical considerations for housing projects in landslide-prone areas. Particular attention was given to site selection, geotechnical assessments, and safe construction practices to ensure the long-term sustainability and safety of housing developments under PHDT programmes.
In addition, the Director – Health of PHDT briefed the gathering on the Health Plan for 2026, outlining key priorities, targeted interventions, and collaborative strategies aimed at improving health outcomes within plantation communities.
The forum provided a valuable platform for dialogue, strategic alignment, and strengthened collaboration between PHDT and Regional Plantation Companies, reaffirming the collective commitment towards sustainable development, improved living standards, and enhanced well-being of plantation families across Sri Lanka.
