On February 6, 2025, a breast cancer screening and awareness program on early cancer detection was conducted at Wewessa Estate for 35 women.
The program was organized to commemorate World Cancer Day, which was held on February 4. The RDHS Badulla facilitated the program, with the participation of the Public Health Nursing Sister and PHIs.
Parallelly an awareness on food color codes, the healthy food plate, and healthy practices for cancer detection was conducted by the Public Health Inspector of the NCD Unit, Badulla, for tea pluckers near the weighing shed of Wewessa Estate. A total of 25 community members were informed.
The Manager of Health and Mobilization, along with the Community Development Officer, also facilitated the program.
