The Director General of PHDT conducted an official visit to the Badulla Region on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th of August 2025, focusing on estate-level development activities and housing initiatives under the Indian Housing Project (IHP 4700).

 

01st August 2025
The visit commenced at Dickwella Estate, accompanied by the Badulla Regional Director of PHDT and the General Manager of Malwatte Valley Plantations. Later, the team visited Attampitiya Estate, inspecting Child Development Centres (CDCs) and reviewing the proposed site for housing. The Estate Manager and Assistant Manager also participated in this field visit.

 

02nd August 2025
On the second day, the Director General, together with the Badulla Regional Director, visited Dameriya B, Shawlands, and Bibila Estates, which come under the Hapugastenne Plantations. Estate Managers and Assistant Managers joined the visit. Key areas of focus included inspections of CDCs, evaluation of activities carried out by the Estate Worker Housing Cooperative Societies (EWHCS), and the identification of proposed sites for future housing developments under the IHP 4700 programme.

 

04th August 2025
The final day of the visit included inspections at Aislaby and Warwick Estates, under the purview of Malwatte Valley Plantations. The team assessed the condition of CDCs and examined proposed housing sites identified under the IHP 4700 initiative.

Staff members of the PHDT Badulla Regional Office actively participated throughout the visit, contributing to the planning and coordination of the site inspections and discussions.
