A micro watershed can be defined as “an area of ridge of land that contains a common set of springs and streams (originating point) and drain water to downstream (forests and marshes/ water logging areas like a sponge). These micro watershed areas play a key role in providing clean water for the communities within the tea plantations as well as those living downstream. They provide habitat to several endemic and endangered species such as the Sri Lankan leopard.
