Line No. 04 of the Fordyce Estate, Fordyce Division consisting of 24 units gutted down by fire on Saturday the 29th December 2018 during morning hours due to an electrical fault which is being investigated. 19 families dwelled in this line.
In order to provide temporary accommodation to the victims, the following quantities of roofing sheets, belonging to the Ministry of Hill Country, New Villages, Infrastructure & Community Development which were available at Hatton region have been released with the approval of Hon. Minister of Hill Country, New Villages, Infrastructure & Community Development, yourself and the Chairman, PHDT.

For setting up temporary accommodation, the PHDT, the MOH, Disaster Management Unit of District Secretariat, Police and Forces provided their kind assistance to the estate management. Meanwhile, PHDT also released 200 Nos. 8’ x 3’ plain roofing sheets for partitioning of temporary sheds from the PHDT stocks with your kind approval over the phone for which too formal approval is sought.
Land for new Houses for the victims
Also with the assistance of District Secretary, Nuwara Eliya, the NBRO Officers visited the estate to identify suitable plots of land for construction of new houses on 01.01.2019.
